NCEL Season Curtailed

It is hard to believe that in 2 years we will not have completed a league season, but it is also not unexpected that the FA have tonight confirmed that Steps 3 to 6 will be curtailed.

We await further updates from the FA Council.

I am sure people will be disappointed that no further NCEL games will be played pending ratification from the FA Council, but many of us will be not be surprised following the impact of Covid-19.

Football is a massive part of many peoples lives, but the wider impact on businesses and families who have lost loved ones brings things into context, and ultimately it is the right decision. I am sure many people will both agree and disagree but as a community football club our thoughts go out to our local people and businesses, the men and women that support the club financially through thick and thin. Anyone that has been ill, or lost family and friends during this awful pandemic is at the forefront of our minds.

It goes without saying that I am keen to thank the players, managers, volunteers and supporters in what has been another testing season and wish them good health until we meet again. I also want to say a huge thankyou to our fantastic sponsors, who despite their own personal uncertainty have backed the club – without our supporters and sponsors we would not be in the position we are today. Thankyou.

We can now look forward and start the long planning for next season, our management team of Luke Forgione and Gaz Hunter are already committed to carrying on the work they have started and we are delighted that they want to continue after what has been a real baptism of fire for them.

On behalf of myself and my fellow board members I want to wish everyone a safe and carefree summer, I think we all deserve to enjoy it with our friends and family and we can all look forward to a new and safe season in 2021/22.
