Luke’s thought’s on first game in charge

Luke Forgione said the 2-2 draw was a Jekyll and Hyde performance, but was happy that his new side came away with a point from East Hull. It was the host’s who went in-front in the first half through Ali Aydemir, which was a mistake from the Briggers. After the break there was another goal from George Harrison which left us 2 behind but goals from Sam Agar and Ben Donoghue made sure we travelled back to South Yorkshire with a share of the spoils.

I thought we started well on the front foot said Luke, but we didn’t take some of the chances that we had created we conceded a stupid goal from a throw in, it was a difficult pitch and I believe many clubs will go there and struggle to play decent football on it. The 2nd half we didn’t get control of the game, it became end to end they had a shot from distance and it became 2-0 the attitude of the lads was good and they showed good character. We got back into the game from a set piece which Sam looked to have got it over the line then a goal from Ben, on reflection you look and think how did we not win that 1st half and we managed to get a draw from the 2nd half it really was a roller coaster of emotions

It sounds like most of the season so far getting chances but not taking them fortunately we managed to get a point from this game

It’s better than a loss to start of with they (East hull) struggled last year but they seem a little more difficult to beat this season with the pitch that they have there it won’t be easy to play good football on it. We’re a point better off than we were this morning and its something to build on.

Were you confident that Ben would be able to step up a level ?

We have had quite a few conversations about Ben I’ve known him from Barnsley College and Houghton Main. I think we have got a bit of a special talent to be honest, he’s had a taste of non league football before but didn’t really break through he’s only 18 but I think he will have a good future ahead of him .

The next game is your first at the Pinto Property is Wednesday Night against Skegness a team that will be fancied to be up top of the table at end of the season how do you think you will get on ?

I think most people will write us of before a ball is kicked, there gonna have to travel on a Tuesday night from Skegness that may effect them. We need to be positive going forward and make sure that it won’t be an easy game for them we just need to cut out a few errors I know we have goals in the team.

Luke added:

When you look at the next couple of fixtures (Skegness and Emley) there a hard couple of fixtures on paper, you wouldn’t expect anything if you were outside of our dressing room but we need to be positive and make it a difficult game for them . I think the lads might just need a little bit more self belief, I’m not saying there not confident but games like the two coming up will be a good test for them.
