Frost meets Fudge

With the appointment of Luke Forgione yesterday our roving reporter Gav Frost caught up with the new Worsbrough Bridge Manager. For those of you who are long term Briggers fans you will know Luke played for and captained us and spent the best part of 14 years with the club.

How are you feeling about being appointed the new Worsbrough Bridge manager ?

It’s been a whirlwind few days really, I first found out news about Moz leaving on Saturday and obviously with my connection plenty of people have been in touch and asked me I mulled over it for a couple of days but I’m very happy I received a call today.

Luke admitted he didn’t want people to think he jumped ship at Houghton Main ?

I recently put out an interview on Non League Yorkshire saying, I wouldn’t want to jump at the first opportunity that came my way. There was only one club I would have left Houghton Main for in such a short space of time and that was Worsbrough Bridge.

Being based in Barnsley you will know most of the squad – what do you think of the squad Lee and Paul put together ?

I think looking from the outside looking that no wins in 4 games is not a true reflection of the start of the season. I was at the match against East Hull and I came to watch Worsbrough in preseason, as they were playing games against clubs that were in the same division as Houghton Main. I am a fan of the club and have always looked at the results hopefully with a little bit of guidance we can climb the league to where we want to be. I hope to either train or meet the players Thursday, so we can speak about the game against East Hull on Saturday.

Your first game is on Saturday away at East Hull, who seem to be much improved from last season – what are your thought’s on that?

They might have recruited a lot of new players from last season and have picked up some points, where many might have thought they might have struggled. It’s always going to be a hard game travelling all the way to Hull and they have confidence so we have to respect them but we won’t fear them – we are going there to get a result.

The first home game for Luke is Wednesday 13th October against Skegness Town which you can purchase your tickets online

What would you say to the fans to get them down to The Pinto Property Stadium?

We’re going to look to play entertaining football and be on the front foot, I’d also like to see people from the local area to come down as there isn’t currently many places where you can watch live football currently, we want to create a positive environment and encourage the lads to play football. I want the fans to know that we will give 100% for the shirt and we want the Pinto Property Stadium to become a fortress and try to emulate the success that we achieved whilst I was wearing the shirt, We went unbeaten at home one season and I believe its something we can draw inspiration from.

I think all that’s left of me to say is I wish Luke,Gareth and James the best of luck for the rest of the season and would say to all the fans to #BackTheBriggers
